Hawaii Fishing on the Big Island: An Opportunity to Land Some Whoppers!

If you are gearing up for a deep sea Hawaii fishing trip, the Big Island offers some of the best waters in Hawaii for big game. From Mahi Mahi to black, blue or striped marlin, your odds of landing the big guys couldn’t get much better than this.

Kona Waters Hold Many State Records for Largest Fish
It’s astonishing, really, to look at the list of record breaking fish pulled out of the Big Island’s west-side waters around Kona. The complete list is too long to cover comprehensively in this article, but some of the highlights include:

A 1,205 lb black marlin caught on an 80-lb test line after a grueling 12 ½ hour struggle to pull it in. (Believed to be the largest black ever caught in the Northern Hemisphere!)

A 1,207 lb, 12 foot long Mako shark caught with a 3 lb skipjack tuna for bait on a 130 lb test line.

A 503 lb broadbill swordfish caught with a handline.

A 228 lb big eye tuna (Thunnus obesus) caught around a C-buoy and a 73.5 lb Albacore tuna caught in 700 fathoms of water using bait and a Shimano 130-class reel.

An 82 lb Mahi Mahi (Dorado), a 145.5 lb Amberjack, and a 150 lb Moray eel speared while diving in 80 ft of water!

Interestingly enough, a decent number of these whoppers were actually landed on charter boats – which is likely to be the kind of boat you’ll be on if you are just visiting Hawaii for a fishing trip.

Because of record-breaking monsters like these and because the fishing is generally good all year around, Hawaii fishing draws People From all over the world. The plus side of this is that you’ll find no shortage of options when looking for a boat to take you onto the water.  The drawback is that you’ll have to book early and plan on spending a pretty penny if you are the kind of person who wants a private touring experience.

There are several travel agencies that specialize in Disney Vacations as well as purely informational websites. Almost all of them have newsletters that you can subscribe to that can be full of special travel deals or just great information.

2. Visit all the major airlines and sign up for their weekly email specials. Southwest Airlines usually has great deals on airfare and has an excellent all-in-one online vacation planner with deals on Walt Disney World and Disneyland parks. You also can book airfare, rental cars, accommodations (even 5 bedroom rental homes), and Park Tickets – from their website.

3. Check out your local library to see which “unofficial” Disney Vacation guides they may have, especially if you don’t have that much Vacation Time and want to get really familiar with the park before you go. Most guides have a “must do’s” section for each park to help you make the most of your trip. I would also recommend the book ‘Disney on a Dime’ by Chris and Kristal Carlson. They are fierce Disney World visitors and have a lot of helpful information and insights on getting the most bang for your buck.

4. Do you already belong to AAA Auto Club, AARP, Sam’s Club or Costco? These club memberships and others like them offer a lot more benefits than just the obvious ones so be sure to check into them. Go to their websites and see what travel specials that they may offer. You can get member discounts on Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme park tickets, rental cars, hotels and even complete Vacation Packages. Since you’re paying for the membership anyway, you might as well take advantage of it!

5. Disney makes it pretty simple to plan a vacation, especially when you use their all-in-one online trip planning guide. Although you may find better deals elsewhere, it’s still a good idea to sign up for their email alerts. They are, after all, the experts on all things Disney. Be sure to request a free trip planning DVD. It’s excellent and serves as a great “video memory book” for your kids once they get home from the vacation!

Sailing Clubs in the UK

Traditionally, a Yacht Club is focused on membership of yacht owners, while a Sailing Club would be membership for smaller boat owners – such as dinghies. Some clubs also include owners of powerboats.

A Members Club is a club run by the membership to promote sailboat racing and cruising, as well as providing a meeting place for the sailing community.

A Sailing Club is different from a Yacht Club in that the members mostly sail other people’s boats, at a much lower cost than owning a boat.

Membership is a combination of people who sail as crew, and boat owners. Members decide the objectives to satisfy the membership and to attract other members.

Caribbean Holidays – All Inclusive

Way back in the 70′s, holiday package normally cover meals and drinks. These holidays are all inclusive. On the early 80′s, I spent my life working in Spain for a couple of years. When I returned to United Kingdom, I arrange my own travel, hotel accommodation and meals during holidays. From those days, I have taken an independent holiday in Spain and Balearic Islands.

During 2004, my friends who have been to Antigua, invited us to join them for a summer outing at Coco Bay in Antigua. This holiday is an “all inclusive” family treat with Virgin. The holiday brings back memories to my last all inclusive holiday during the 70′s. I had a great time and enjoyed the holiday so much. Starting that day, I recommend an “all inclusive” holiday treat which is more convenient and exciting.

It is very hassle on planning an ‘independent’ holiday now a day. It would cost hundreds
of pounds more just to the place. For example, on my part, I lived in Hertfordshire. I still need to go to Gatwick London late in the early in the morning and get hotel accommodation for a tomorrow’s flight to US or the Caribbean which would cost me an extra pound which is very impractical now a day.

I recommend ‘all inclusive’ holidays for a number of reasons apart from the additional cost. An ‘all inclusive’ holiday treat from traveling agencies would include, all meals, from breakfast, lunch and dinner at their buffet restaurants. The drinks are already included in this package. It is also hassle free since hotel or resort accommodations are already set for us by the agency. The package also includes activities that we would surely enjoy.

A perfect place for honeymooners is the Coco Bay in Antigua. This is a small resort that caters only 80 couples. This resort is exclusively for adults, therefore you will be free from worries that children would cause. You will stay on a romantic ‘hut’ which will give you a unique experience. You will also have a perfect view of the sea since the hotel is situated on the hillside. Only one restaurant is available but they serve various cuisines to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only one restaurant is available in the resort, but they will never run out of drinks. The resort only has one swimming pool. But why choose a swimming pool wherein you could dip to the golden bays and warm Caribbean Sea that are almost exclusively for hotel guest. We will be going there this year together with our friends for our 40th wedding anniversary.

On January 2005, my wife and I had 2 weeks vacation to the Caribbean since the Mediterranean is not warm during Januarys. Since we are out of budget, we found brochures offering holidays at Dominican Republic that is just perfect for our pockets. We decided to spend our 2 weeks vacation at Dominican Republic. We decided to choose an ‘all inclusive’ package at Puerto Plata which is perfectly situated at the shoreline. This is a big hotel that provides a romantic sea view on our every meal.

We visited Dominican Republic again on July 2007. We chose another ‘all inclusive’ holiday treat to avoid hassles. We chose the resort Punta Cana, part of the Bahai Principe chain, which was so large. Car trains are available for you to length of the hotel. As expected, they cater delicious cuisines to their guest with unlimited drinks.

Luckily, we were able to have another holiday on the October of 2007. We were invited to a wedding with an ‘all inclusive’ holiday treat. The venue of the wedding is in Cancun Mexico. That was again another great experience of an all inclusive holiday since we don’t need to worry on spending extra pounds.

Nothing really beats the modern ‘all inclusive’ holiday. It allows you to enjoy your trip with no worries from budget and hotel accommodations.

I have just completed my tourism training at UCLA with the Los Angeles Travel Academy and would like to share with you some useful hints and tips on choosing the perfect Los Angeles hotel for your vacation or business trip. One of the beach cities is Santa Monica, which is a great place to base yourself if you are looking to relax on the beach during your stay. It truly is a place where you could spend an entire evening.
